Each week I will highlight some of our opening day themes: #2--You get it done no matter how long it takes. You are “managerless,” meaning no one else has to worry about whether you are getting it done. RIS Mission: Our mission is to inspire and empower all students to reach their maximum potential: one student, one lesson, one day at a time. Things I CAN Control…
Continue to focus on the RIS four core beliefs: It’s about Kids! —Accountability—Transparency—Communication. Positives across the district……….. Russell Primary School (From the desk of Mr. Cassity) RPS students participated in Jump Rope for Heart in PE all week. Thanks to PTA for helping out!! Our students raised over $10,000 for the American Cancer Society! Second grade students performed for a big crowd at the PTA Sponsored Evening with the Arts. Singing, dancing, and artwork from all classes were on display Thursday evening. Thanks to Golden Corral for providing some refreshments for this special event!! Russell High School (From the desk of Mrs. Chaffin)
Russell Area Technology Center (From the desk of Mr. Trimble) We had another awesome week at RATC, as we continue to see our students take the skills they learn and apply them to real-world projects. Some of our highlights this week include:
Russell Preschool (From the desk of Mrs. Staton) This week, Mrs. Crump's class is continuing our science theme by exploring the oceans. We are learning about the water, the plants, and the creatures that live in the sea. The children really enjoyed watching shark videos and moving around like various ocean animals. Ms. Snyder's class worked on their number by skills by rolling dice and counting out that number of seashells! Mrs. McKee's class read about ocean animals and created ocean paintings. They all enjoyed their trip to the Highland's Museum! Mrs. Moore's class has been using their new STEM materials in the block area and creating their own games! What’s happening at central office / district this week?
Have a Great week Russell!!!! Sean

Each week I will highlight some of our opening day themes: #1--You don’t look at the clock, and you’re not punching a time card. Your role is not defined by time. Russell Area Technology Center (From the desk of Mr. Trimble) We had another great week at the Russell Area Technology Center! We continue to be thankful for the interest that our teachers, school leaders and community members demonstrate in the continuous success of those we are blessed to educate. Some of the highlights of our week include:
Russell Preschool (From the desk of Mrs. Staton) Mrs. Crump, Mrs. McKee, and Ms. Snyder's classes have been focusing on science. This week they looked at the parts of plants and trees. Students can tell you what plants need to survive, the 4 main parts of a flower, and they have made models of flowers! Learning about flowers has made us excited for spring! Mrs. Moore's class conducted science experiments this week! They made a hypothesis of which liquid would dissolve candy hearts-water, orange juice, or apple cider vinegar. They noticed the changes in the hearts using each liquid. The conclusion is that Apple Cider Vinegar will dissolve candy hearts! What’s happening at central office / district this week?
Have a Great week Russell!!!! Sean Ten Things That Require Zero Talent
I saw this over the weekend and thought it relates to everything we do for kids! Our kids will take on the attitude of all school personnel they come in contact with regardless of title. EVERYONE makes a difference EVERYDAY!!!!! Each week I will highlight some of our opening day themes: #11--You are trustworthy. 100 percent. Always, with no exceptions. I know I can count on you. RIS Mission: Our mission is to inspire and empower all students to reach their maximum potential: one student, one lesson, one day at a time. Things I CAN Control…

Russell Primary School (From the desk of Mr. Cassity) We have some awesome partners and parents in our community. A very special thanks to Mr. And Mrs. Carter, who donated a Math Seeds membership for kindergarten!!! Jump Rope for Heart kicked off on Friday. Mrs. Fleming got the students pumped about raising money for a great cause: Russell-McDowell Intermediate (From the desk of Mrs. Wright)

Russell Area Technology Center (From the desk of Mr. Trimble) This week we had the privilege of an awesome visit with the Russell Middle School 8th grade students on Thursday as they prepare to begin making their high school schedules. We enjoyed having the opportunity to get to speak with them about the pathways we offer here at RATC and then giving them some time to tour our classrooms and labs as well as meet our teachers. The faculty and staff of RATC appreciate the RMS teachers taking time out of their busy schedules to allow their students to get to know more about our school. We are excited to see them complete their 8th grade year with much success and then to hopefully see many of them to begin the 2017-2018 school year. Russell Preschool (From the desk of Mrs. Staton) Mrs. McKee and Ms. Snyder's classrooms used different types of transportation to travel the world. We made our own license plates for our cars, used patterns to design our own trains, and painted using the wheels of our classroom vehicles, instead of our fingers or paintbrushes. Mrs. Crump's class kicked off the month of February by studying dental health. We learned about visiting the dentist and caring for our teeth so that we can keep happy, healthy smiles. Mrs. Moore's class finished their pet store project by writing thank you cards to Petland. What’s happening at central office / district this week?
