On behalf of the Russell Board of Education and I…Thank you for a magnificent year! Our graduation is set for Saturday, May 28 at 2:00 PM in the Russell High School gymnasium. Please come out and enjoy this event with our graduates. Everyone in our district has had a positive impact on our graduates. Without your time, effort, and dedication this would not be possible. Again, I appreciate all that you do for kids! At Russell Independent…. It’s About Kids! RIS Mission: Our mission is to inspire and empower all students to reach their maximum potential: one student, one lesson, one day at a time. Keep in mind the main points discussed from District Opening Day: Things I CAN Control…
Continue to focus on the RIS four core beliefs: It’s about Kids! —Accountability—Transparency—Communication. Positives across the district……….. Russell Primary School (From the desk of Mr. Cassity)
Russell-McDowell Intermediate (From the desk of Mrs. Wright)
Russell High School (From the desk of Mrs. Chaffin)
Russell Area Technology Center (From the desk of Mr. Trimble)
Russell Preschool (From the desk of Mrs. Staton) Our preschoolers may have graduated last week, but our staff is busy, busy, busy! This week, we have made home visits, held ARC meetings, and screened approximately 35 new preschoolers for August. We have more meetings and screenings this week before we can take a well-deserved break! What’s happening at central office / district this week?
If you have the opportunity to support our Seniors at any of the above events….Please take the time to do so! It’s a great day to be a Red Devil! Have a great week Russell! - Sean

Russell Preschool (From the desk of Mrs. Staton) Preschool had a WONDERFUL graduation on Thursday! EVERY student had at least one family member attend for the ceremony and lunch! In the next couple of weeks, we will be conducting home visits for all students, we have multiple screening days for new students (and all days are full!), and transition meetings scheduled for upcoming Kindergarteners!! We had several more students complete their MOS certifications and another student complete his Adobe certification as well. Students in welding continue to prepare for their two-part certification to be taken very soon. We are proud of our students for their continual hard work and of our teachers for working so hard to help provide them with the chance to obtain these certifications. Mr. Williams’ students had the opportunity to demonstrate some of their virtual reality technology to their classmates this week, and to some of our staff members, as we had the opportunity to tour NASA and some other very interesting simulations. We are always excited to see our students work hard to learn about new technology and for the awesome experiences they are blessed with in our classrooms.
