“Just try to be the best you can be; never cease trying to be the best you can be. That’s in your power.” – John Wooden Each week I will highlight some of our opening day themes: One Student, One Lesson, One Day at a Time! “It’s About Kids!” RIS Mission: Our mission is to inspire and empower all students to reach their maximum potential: one student, one lesson, one day at a time. Things I CAN Control…
Continue to focus on the RIS four core beliefs: It’s about Kids! —Accountability—Transparency—Communication. Russell Primary School (From the desk of Mr. Cassity) We had a wonderful first full week at RPS! Our fundraiser kickoff was Friday and the students enjoyed their first assembly of the year! Several students won prizes as they modeled some of the games they may get to play if they get to selling!! Russell-McDowell Intermediate (From the desk of Mrs. Wright)
Russell Middle School (From the desk of Mr. Moore)
Russell High School (From the desk of Mrs. Chaffin)
Russell Area Technology Center (From the desk of Mr. Trimble) We had a great week at the Russell Area Technology Center! Our students had an awesome opportunity to apply many different concepts from the eclipse to the work they do in class on a daily basis. Mr. Parsons’ Project Lead the Way Engineering students worked to design different devices they could use to the view the eclipse and then collaborated to create those devices. It was great to see their creativity in bringing to life the different aspects of the class through this historic event! Russell Preschool (From the desk of Mrs. Staton) We've had a wonderful 3 days with our Preschoolers! We are getting to know each other and learning the routines and procedures of preschool. We can't wait for next week! What’s happening at central office / district this week?
Thank you for a great first full week of school!!!!! It’s a great day to be a Red Devil! Have a great week Russell! --Sean

RE: Bus Incident on Bus #61 Russell Family,
Bus #61 had an injector “O-ring” bust during the regular bus route today. Due to this happening the bus put off a lot of smoke. The driver of Bus #61 safely unloaded the students and called into the bus garage for assistance. At that time, another bus was sent to the students to finish the route. When I arrived on site the students were safely being transported home on Bus #59. I wanted to let the community know of the incident and that all parties are safe and sound. If you have further questions regarding this incident, please let me know. Have a great evening! Mr. Horne I would like to thank everyone across the district for a FANTASTIC start to the school year! It’s takes everyone “ROWING” in the same direction to make it the best environment for our KIDS! Keep up the great work RUSSELL! Row the Boat!!! Each week I will highlight some of our opening day themes: #3—You realize you are part of something bigger than yourself, and humbly accomplish the goals because of a larger motivation than just you! RIS Mission: Our mission is to inspire and empower all students to reach their maximum potential: one student, one lesson, one day at a time. Things I CAN Control…
