Russell Family Resource works every year to make sure all students are provided for - in every aspect of the students lives. This year, they're doing the Christmas Assistance program a little different, but by doing so they will be able to provide Christmas presents to more children than in past years.
Circle 5 Group from the Methodist Church, CSX, Sharon Baptist Youth Group, Lions Club, Marathon, Bridges Christian Church, Lifesong Church & MANY individuals have come together to make sure the children in our community get to experience a Merry Christmas. 558 people from our community came out for the Annual Russell Turkey Trot that collects canned goods / non-perishables for Helping Hands instead of an entry fee - and turned it into a celebration of life for the late Melanie Conley.

On Friday, May 20th, Russell participated in its first track & field day for all special education students! It was a wonderful day full of smiles and fun! Senior Evan Boggs took beautiful photos of the event! See them here!
In partnership with the City of Flatwoods, Greenup Health Department, and Flatwods Lion's Club, Russell-McDowell hosted a Health Fair for all students during school. Students were able to talk with Police Officers, EMTs and FireFighters, see their vehicles, have a free vision check (provided by the Lion's Club), learn about hand washing and healthy food / drink consumption. The students were very engaged and had a great time learning about our community!
