Russell Preschool (From the desk of Mrs. Staton) Mrs. Grizzle's Class:This week the Little Turkeys in Room 207 read There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Turkey & learned a new fingerplay, "The Five Little Turkeys". We acted out the story & fingerplay then sequenced both of them too. We also learned the Turkey Pokey & Turkey Hop!! We practiced lots of math skills too like shape identification, counting, & number recognition. Busy week full of learning!! A HUGE THANK YOU to AEG & PNC Bank for funding our STEAM/fine motor materials, "Building Strong Muscles & Strong Problem Solving Skills!!” Mrs. Moore's Class:We learned about being Thankful, We made turkeys, using the letters of our names as feathers. We learned about the First Thanksgiving, and how the Pilgrims and the Native Americans became friends. We are looking forward to our Thanksgiving Feast on Tuesday, to celebrate our Preschool Friendships! Mrs. Delong and Mrs. Stephens' Class:We have read Thanksgiving stories and talked about what we are thankful for. We used our fine motor skills to make a Thanksgiving bracelet! (From Mr. Hunt) Congratulations to the marching band on placing 10th in Class A at The Bands of America Grand Nationals Championships this past weekend at Lucas Oil Stadium!!! Placing in the top 10 is a major milestone and accomplishment for these terrific students. These students placed 1st in visual (marching) over the Class A national champions, Bourbon County, KY. Please join me in congratulating these fine young musicians who are representing Russell in a big way on the national stage. (From Mr. Barnett) The Russell High Academic Team competed in the 2018 JV Challenge, a subdivision of Governor's Cup competition focused upon 9th and 10th grade. The team won Sectional 14 with strong performances in each subject.

Russell Preschool (From the desk of Mrs. Staton) Mrs. Grizzle's Class: The sweetest pumpkins in the patch in Room 207 read, The Legend of Spookley the Square Pumpkin, this week. We learned our new finger play, Five Little Pumpkins & read a take home book to go with it to share with our families. We created shape pumpkins & story retelling boards. We also sequenced the life cycle of a pumpkin. We also played in our pumpkin patch in the dramatic play center. Mrs. Moore's Class: We carved a new pumpkin...it was great! We learned about the life cycle of a pumpkin. We read Go Away Big Green Monster, and made Monster cookies and mixed up a batch of "Witches Brew" for snack. Mrs. Delong and Mrs. Stephens' Class: This week we dissected a pumpkin and talked about the parts and life cycle of a pumpkin. We dyed the pumpkin seeds different colors and made our name with them! We read several pumpkin books and played a pumpkin shape matching game. We also made pumpkin playdough and a "Witches Brew" snack! We have had a fun and busy week!
