Russell Primary School (From the desk of Mr. Cassity) March Madness is officially here, especially at RPS!! Ms. Gullett has encouraged our students and their classes to read, read, read for a school wide March Madness Contest. Our students are off to a great start as they have begun earning points for their classrooms by logging their reading daily! On Friday, we celebrated reading by dressing as our favorite character. We will have more celebratory days on the last Friday of each week for the month of March. Our PTA is sponsoring a very different kind of fundraiser for us this March. More on that later... Check out these awesome book characters from Friday: Russell-McDowell Intermediate (From the desk of Mrs. Wright)

Russell Area Technology Center (From the desk of Mr. Trimble) Students in Mr. Parsons’ PLTW classes presented and collected data on their puzzle cube projects this week. Class members reviewed the puzzle cubes, with the complexity of the cubes being at the forefront of the discussion. Students in the class then provided feedback to the designer who will now begin work on their redesign based upon that information. In each of our classes throughout the building, our teachers design unique lessons that allow our students the experience of working through problems, as well as the opportunity to see what the process looks like in real-world workplaces. Reed Craigmiles was determined to be the winner of the puzzle cube project. Russell Preschool (From the desk of Mrs. Staton) This week we had an amazing time at our field trip to the STEAM Lab at McDowell!! We observed all of the animals, saw the big kids sumobots, & looked at all of the technology. We loved creating racecars using Legos!! That was a favorite part of the trip!! Again, a huge thank you to Mr. Jordan for letting us visit & planning wonderful experiences for us!! It was the BEST field trip EVER!! Additionally, we gave our bearded dragon, Spike, a bath, made moon dough, & we had our Book Buddies (aka the big kids) from second grade come read to us for the first time!!!! Busy week in Room 207 full of learning!! What’s happening at central office / district this week?
