RE: Incident this morning at RMIS
At or about 7:15 AM, a domestic dispute took place in the parking lot of RMIS. RMIS administration intervened and the individual fled the scene. Shortly thereafter the Flatwoods Police department arrived and assessed the situation. Police apprehended the individual less than five minutes after fleeing the campus. Across the district, RHS, RMS, RATC, and RPS went into a lockout situation to protect our children. District officials arrived and remained at RMIS until the incident was resolved. Overall, we continue to look at ways to protect and prevent these types of situations, but they do at times occur. The safety of our students and staff is our top priority and we will continue to be diligent in these matters. If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to call my office today. M.
