Each week I will highlight some of our opening day themes: Vision Statement #4—Our community shares our desire to develop highly skilled and productive citizens. RIS Mission: Our mission is to inspire and empower all students to reach their maximum potential: one student, one lesson, one day at a time. Things I CAN Control…
Continue to focus on the RIS four core beliefs: It’s about Kids! —Accountability—Transparency—Communication. Positives across the district……….. Russell Primary School (From the desk of Mr. Cassity) Some of our classes enjoyed the first official snowflakes of the year! Book Fair was a big hit and Family Night was very busy! Our students love the Lunch Bunch that Ms. Crager does every Friday. They had a special guest, Snowflake the Elf, join them this week. Russell-McDowell Intermediate (From the desk of Mrs. Wright)
Russell High School (From the desk of Mrs. Chaffin)
Russell Area Technology Center (From the desk of Mr. Trimble) Students in our business law and management classes had the opportunity to visit with a community member this past week. Greg Gibson, who is both an umpire for Major League Baseball and a member of the staff at our local State Farm office, took the time to discuss the contract he and the other umpires have with MLB. He discussed with them how and when the contract is negotiated, the terms of the contract, and how changes that have occurred over time have impacted him. This was a great learning experience for our students and we appreciate him taking time out of his busy schedule to bring this real-world knowledge into our classroom. Russell Preschool (From the desk of Mrs. Staton) We have quite the team of preschoolers in Room 207!! We took a virtual field trip to see real reindeer on a farm. We read reindeer books & discussed the characters & setting. We spelled reindeer & sang, “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer” & “Reindeer Pokey” focusing on letter Rr, the /r/ sound, & alliteration with the sound. We played reindeer games to practice our gross motor skills & following directions. We created a Christmas collage & had more practice with Christmas counting!! We ended our week with a Reindeer Dress Up day!! We aRe ready for the holidays in Room 207!! What’s happening at central office / district this week?
It’s a great day to be a Red Devil!! Have a great week Russell! Sean
