Each week I will highlight some of our opening day themes: #4—Your team doesn’t care if you are a superstar. They care if you are a super team member. RIS Mission: Our mission is to inspire and empower all students to reach their maximum potential: one student, one lesson, one day at a time. Things I CAN Control… 1. My ATTITUDE 2. My EFFORT 3. My BEHAVIOR 4. My ACTIONS to be a Great Team Member Continue to focus on the RIS four core beliefs: It’s about Kids! —Accountability—Transparency—Communication. Positives across the district……….. Russell Primary School (From the desk of Mr. Cassity) Great things are going on at RPS, even during the holiday season. Many students have shared that their elves have showed up at their houses to report back to Santa as to how they are behaving. Ms. Hicks had a reindeer show up to encourage her class!
Russell-McDowell Intermediate (From the desk of Mrs. Wright)

Russell Preschool (From the desk of Mrs. Staton) Mrs. Grizzle's Class: Run, run as fast as you can to Room 207....It is Gingerbread Week!! We read all kinds of books about the gingerbread man & compared & contrasted the stories. We learned our new finger play, Five Gingerbread Men; spelled our names on gingerbread men; counted gingerbread men in a variety of ways; created gingerbread men out of shapes; ordered gingerbread men by size; did gross motor movements like the gingerbread man did in the story; & sequenced & acted out the events in the story. We ended our week by going on a gingerbread manhunt around our school then we ran back to Room 207 to find a delicious gingerbread treat!! Preschool is sweet during the holidays!! Mrs. Moore's Class: It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! We have been reading about Santa and his reindeer. We worked together to put up the classroom Christmas tree. We will be making ornaments to decorate it! Our dramatic play area has transformed into a bakery for the holiday! Mrs. Delong & Mrs. Stephens' Class: What a fun week of learning we have had! We have been practicing how to write our name and identifying the letters in our name. We reviewed our colors and shapes. Mrs. Stephens' room has a sweet visitor from the North Pole! We have baked cookies and wrapped presents in our dramatic play center. What’s happening at central office / district this week?
It’s a great day to be a Red Devil! Have a great week Russell! --Sean
