FBLA is now selling t-shirts for $8! That is a great price for a nice shirt! Russell Preschool (From the desk of Mrs. Staton) Mrs. Moore's Class: This week we went on a "spooky" walk (using our SmartBoard) and saw scary bats, black cats, and witches' on their broom! We tried to carve a pumpkin, but it was yucky on the inside. We will try again this week with a new pumpkin! We enjoyed dressing up for our Halloween party! Mrs. Grizzle's Class: The Little Monsters in Room 207 have been busy again this week!! This week we read, Go Away, Big Green Monster. We learned our new finger play, the Five Little Monsters & it was a hit!! We also danced to our new song, Monster Mash!! We meet a new Frog Street Friend, Larry the Lion, created shape monsters, & sequenced the events in our story. We created two new take-home books about the Five Little Monsters & a shape monster!! We ended our week with our Halloween Party! Mrs. Delong and Mrs. Stephens' Class: This week we have played lots of fun Halloween games and completed experiments! We practiced making patterns by making witches, ghosts, and goblins. We practiced letter recognition by playing "Where's the Candy". We made "Witches' Brew" and finished an experiment using candy corn and different types of liquids. We had lots of fun dressing up for our Halloween party on Thursday! What’s happening at central office / district this week? November Board of Education Meeting — Monday, November 26, 2018 at 6:00 PM in the Central Office board room. This is an open meeting and a great opportunity to learn what is going on in the district. Great leadership opportunity!

Russell Preschool (From the desk of Mrs. Staton) Mrs. Delong's Class: Our class won the PTA drive for preschool so we got to go to a reptile show on Monday! The Fire Department came on Monday and we got to talk with them and look around the fire truck. It is fire safety week so we have been talking about all the ways to help keep us safe and we have been practicing Stop Drop and Roll. Mrs. Grizzle's Class: This week we read, There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Bat! We practiced spelling our names on bats, created shape bats, made a story telling necklace, & wrote/drew a picture of our favorite thing the lady swallowed in the story. Mrs. Moore's Class: The Flatwoods Fire Department came on Monday and talked with us about fire safety. Morgan helped demonstrate "Stop Drop and Roll". We made fire hoses to fight fires, used shapes to make fire trucks, and read stories about fire safety! Mrs. Stephens' Class: This week we have talked about Fire Safety. We got to walk in a Fire truck and learn about all the gadgets! We practiced Stop, Drop and Roll and discussed what to do in case of a fire. We have read several Firefighter/Fire books and made some great art projects related to fire safety! What’s happening at central office / district this week? Russell Preschool (From the desk of Mrs. Staton) Mrs. Stephens' Class We have had a great week in preschool learning about Fall and going on a nature walk! We had a picnic outside under the trees and collected leaves, acorns, sticks and pine cones. We have made fall crafts and read several fall books! We love this colorful time of year! Mrs. Delong's Class We finished up talking about Fall this week. We talked about why leaves change color and all the colors they change. We went a nature walk, looked at the leaves and how they are starting to change, and gathered leaves, acorns, and pinecones. We read the book leaf man and then used our imagination to make things of our own with all of the items we gathered. Mrs. Grizzle's Class This week we read, There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Fly, and practiced sequencing the events in the story. We will be reading a few other books about the lady and sequencing those stories also during the month of October. We practiced spelling our names, counting, & identifying shapes. Mrs. Moore's Class We have a "burning house" in our dramatic play center and we have pretended to be firefighters using the hose on the fire. We identified shapes and used shapes to create fire truck! Stop by our display in the hallway and see for yourself! What’s happening at central office / district this week? Russell Preschool (From the desk of Mrs. Staton) Mrs. Delong's Class We are learning about Fall this week, we have been talking about why leaves change colors in the Fall, we have read lots of books about Fall, painted Fall trees and pictures, and played many games related to Fall. Mrs. Grizzle's Class This week we read, Ten Apples Up On Top by Dr. Seuss, learned a new finger play, Five Little Apples, & new song, Apples & Bananas. We graphed our favorite color of apple & then drew a picture with details about it. We also practiced spelling our names & ordering numbers to ten. Our culminating event for the week was making applesauce!! Mrs. Moore's Class This week we read Goldilocks and the Three Bears and put on a puppet show. We enjoyed a "Teddy Bear Picnic" with our friends and their stuffed animals. We used our cutting skills to create our favorite character from the book. Mrs. Stephens' Class This week we have learned all about Fall! We have read several Fall books and made a Fall tree! We discussed that the leaves are starting to fall out of the trees and change colors. We have had a great week! WHAT'S HAPPENING AT CENTRAL OFFICE THIS WEEK?
