“If you’re not making mistakes, then you’re not doing anything. I’m positive that a doer makes mistakes.”—John Wooden Each week I will highlight some of our opening day themes: Vision Statement #4—Our Community shares our desire to develop highly skilled and productive citizens. RIS Mission: Our mission is to inspire and empower all students to reach their maximum potential: one student, one lesson, one day at a time. Things I CAN Control…
Continue to focus on the RIS four core beliefs: It’s about Kids! —Accountability—Transparency—Communication. Positives across the district……….. Russell Primary School (From the desk of Mr. Cassity) We had a very busy at RPS this week. Check out our exciting week:
Russell-McDowell Intermediate (From the desk of Mrs. Wright)
Russell Middle School (From the desk of Mr. Moore)
Russell High School (From the desk of Mrs. Chaffin)
Russell Area Technology Center (From the desk of Mr. Trimble) The students of the Russell Area Technology Center had another awesome experience, thanks to the GoalEd program. As a result of the program that was created thanks to a grant received by Kentucky Power and KEDC, our MNA students were able to Skype in to a knee replacement surgery and ask questions of the doctor and his team while it was being performed. Students were able to watch this surgery in its entirety and to see each step that goes along with the process. We appreciate Mrs. Tammy Vonderheide who joined us a representative of KEDC today and was able to see the great aspects of this grant in action. We are very blessed to not only have great students and staff, but also a community who is very much engaged in the education of our students, and very supportive of the work we do within each of our buildings! We also appreciate Mrs. Kristina Perry who is always willing to join us in these events and documents them for our schools and community! Russell Preschool (From the desk of Mrs. Staton) This week the Little Scientists in Room 207 experimented with the light & sound circuit, played with new animal puzzles, & taste tested astronaut ice cream. We decided we liked the original treat better though!! Next week, we are going to make Oobleck in honor of Dr. Seuss!! What’s happening at central office / district this week?
It’s a great day to be a Red Devil!! Have a great week Russell! - Sean
