Each week I will highlight some of our opening day themes: Vision Statement #2 Our School Family plays a crucial role in student development, achievement and success. RIS Mission: Our mission is to inspire and empower all students to reach their maximum potential: one student, one lesson, one day at a time. Things I CAN Control…
Continue to focus on the RIS four core beliefs: It’s about Kids! —Accountability—Transparency—Communication. Positives across the district……….. Russell Primary School (From the desk of Mr. Cassity) We had another great week here at RPS. MAP testing started on Monday and our students are working hard! The week ended with Grandparents’ Day on Friday. We had over 500 grandparents come in and our kiddos LOVED it!! Russell-McDowell Intermediate (From the desk of Mrs. Wright)
Russell Middle School (From the desk of Mr. Moore)
Russell High School (From the desk of Mrs. Chaffin)
Russell Area Technology Center (From the desk of Mr. Trimble) We had a great week this week at the Russell Area Technology Center that was capped off by a visit by the wonderful team from Ashland Community and Technical College. Their team is an awesome postsecondary partner and we always enjoy the opportunity to have them in the building as they help to provide a smooth transition for our students into the future. Students had the opportunity to visit the Mobile Technology Lab and were able to extend upon their learning with the technology available. We also appreciate the different program leaders taking the time to speak with our students and to answer questions concerning the next stages in their education. We are always very appreciative of our community and education partners and are thankful for their willingness to build relationships with our students. We look forward to our next day with them this spring! Russell Preschool (From the desk of Mrs. Staton) Preschool classrooms are focusing on counting in sequence to 5 & beyond (Math Early Childhood Standard 1.1.2) using the book, “Pete the Cat & His Four Groovy Buttons”. We also spent a lot of time having conversations and discussions about our lives outside of the classroom (ELA Early Childhood Standard 12.2) What’s happening at central office / district this week? September Board of Education Meeting---Monday, September 25 at 6:00 PM in the RHS Library. This is an open meeting and a great opportunity to learn what is going on in the district. Great leadership opportunity!
It’s a great day to be a Red Devil! Have a great week Russell! --Sean
