Each week I will highlight some of our opening day themes: Vision Statement #7—Our Academics focus on rigorous and global success. RIS Mission: Our mission is to inspire and empower all students to reach their maximum potential: one student, one lesson, one day at a time. Things I CAN Control…
Continue to focus on the RIS four core beliefs: It’s about Kids! —Accountability—Transparency—Communication. Positives across the district……….. Russell Primary School (From the desk of Mr. Cassity) - We had a great turnout for Homework Club on Thursday! - Our first Attendance Store was on Friday! Thanks PTA!!! - STLP is back! Thanks Mrs. A Conley, Mrs. Williams, and Ms. Edmonds! Russell-McDowell Intermediate (From the desk of Mrs. Wright)
Russell Middle School (From the desk of Mr. Moore)
Russell High School (From the desk of Mrs. Chaffin)
Russell Area Technology Center (From the desk of Mr. Trimble) Students from our business program had the opportunity to attend the APES seminar through the Greenup County Extension Office this week. This is a great series of events for our students that allow them to learn from local community members. In addition, there is also the possibility of scholarship money, which one of our students obtained last year. We are very lucky to live in a community that is passionate about the education of students, and we appreciate events like the APES program that bring the two together. These students will have the chance to attend two more of these seminars this month, with the third session giving them the opportunity to tour multiple businesses in the area. Russell Preschool (From the desk of Mrs. Staton) Preschoolers have been busy this week! We had a visit from the Fire Department and learned that firemen are our friends! We also got to see the fire truck! We have had LOTS of fine motor practice creating spider web necklaces, tape mummies, and writing our names using white boards, magnetic boards and pipe cleaners!! Mrs. McKee received literacy materials from an AEP grant. They used a variety of actions and sounds to explore drama, one of our Arts and Humanities Early Childhood Standards! They read the book The Little Old Lady Who Wasn't Afraid of Anything, making the motions/actions and sounds with the book. They also made jack-o-lantern cookies like the jack-o-lantern in the book. What’s happening at central office / district this week?
It’s a great day to be a Red Devil! Have a great week Russell! --Sean
