"Positive thinking will let you do everything better than negative thinking will.” –Zig Ziglar Each week I will highlight some of our opening day themes: RISD Vision statement #1--OUR students are our top priority! RIS Mission: Our mission is to inspire and empower all students to reach their maximum potential: one student, one lesson, one day at a time. Things I CAN Control…
Continue to focus on the RIS four core beliefs: It’s about Kids! —Accountability—Transparency—Communication. Positives across the district……….. Russell Primary School (From the desk of Mr. Cassity) We had an awesome short week at RPS! Over 500 parents and students attended Open House on Thursday night!! PTA held their first meeting of the year and went over all of the many opportunities that parents have to volunteer for the year! A special congrats to Ms. Reeves, first grade teacher, for winning a James Patterson Partnership Giveaway to add $500 worth of books to her class library!!! Russell-McDowell Intermediate (From the desk of Mrs. Wright)
Russell High School (From the desk of Mrs. Chaffin)
Russell Area Technology Center (From the desk of Mr. Trimble) We had another great week this week at the Russell Area Technology Center! There were many great activities happening throughout the building as our students continue to put their knowledge into action. Students in our Principles of Health Sciences class are completing a project on the history of healthcare. The students in electricity have completed their safety preparation and have now made it into the lab to begin applying their classroom learning in a hands-on setting. It is always exciting to see our students learning new things and applying them in our shops and classrooms. These two programs have seen tremendous growth and interest from our students this year and we appreciate the student engagement that is always happening and the preparation that Ms. Layne and Mr. Fields put into planning learning opportunities like the ones pictured below. Russell Preschool (From the desk of Mrs. Staton) Good news from Mrs. Grizzle, Mrs. Alisha, & Mrs. Erica's class. We continued focusing on retelling & participating in conversations about reading with The Rainbow Fish (KY EC 1.2.2) & then created our own rainbow fish using collage materials to help retell the story to our friends & family. In Mrs. O's class we used our literacy skills in retelling Pete the Cat I love my white shoes! We observed each other's artwork by designing our own shoes! From Mrs. McKee's class...This week we focused on the math standard 1.1.2: Counts to sequence to 5 and beyond! We counted blocks in the block area that we were building with and seen how many it would take for us to build a bridge! We also focused on retelling "No David!" we took turns retelling the story and learned about making good choices at school! What’s happening at central office / district this week?
It’s a great day to be a Red Devil! Have a great week Russell! --Sean
