“Big” thank you to everyone who made Homecoming week 2017 a great event. It takes everyone sacrificing time and resources to make this event a good experience for our kids and community. I believe this year was one of the best…. Thank YOU for your time and efforts Russell! Each week I will highlight some of our opening day themes: Vision statement #4—Our COMMUNITY shares our desire to develop highly skilled and productive citizens. RIS Mission: Our mission is to inspire and empower all students to reach their maximum potential: one student, one lesson, one day at a time. Things I CAN Control…
Continue to focus on the RIS four core beliefs: It’s about Kids! —Accountability—Transparency—Communication. Positives across the district……….. Russell Primary School (From the desk of Mr. Cassity)
Russell-McDowell Intermediate (From the desk of Mrs. Wright)
Russell Middle School (From the desk of Mr. Moore)
Russell High School (From the desk of Mrs. Chaffin)
Russell Area Technology Center (From the desk of Mr. Trimble) Our FBLA students entered a sheet in the homecoming competition this week. We were very proud of the hard work and collaboration they demonstrated as a team as they created their sheet. It is always fun to see our students share ideas while having fun with these activities. We appreciate all of the teachers and school officials who work so hard to give our students these great opportunities and make the homecoming festivities a lasting memory! Mr. Fields attended training to become an NCCER Certified Instructor this week. By completing this training it will allow his students to complete this industry recognized certification while still students at RATC. In addition to this training, he also became a certified OSHA-10 instructor, which will allow us to provide this certification to over 100 students this school year. We appreciate our teachers constantly putting in work to be able to provide new opportunities for our students! Russell Preschool (From the desk of Mrs. Staton) What a busy week in Preschool! Mrs. Bevis’ students began this week. They spent time learning about each other and practicing the classroom routines. We celebrated the arrival of Fall this week with sorting leaves by color, painting outside with leaves, singing the Five Little Scarecrows & I'm a Little Scarecrow, observing pinecones & wood chips, & identifying the letters/letter sounds in the word, Fall. We also continued learning about apples. We worked together to build our Apple Market. Students were so excited to show anyone that entered our classroom what they had built. We had conversations about apples, examined the inside of apples, counted apples and apple seeds, sang about apples, “sold” apples at our new market, and had an apple tasting day! What’s happening at central office / district this week? October Board of Education Meeting CHANGE---Monday, October 30, 2017 at 6:00 PM in the new Russell Central Office building conference room. This is an open meeting and a great opportunity to learn what is going on in the district. Great leadership opportunity!
