“Yesterday is not ours to recover, but tomorrow is ours to win or lose.” --Lyndon B. Johnson Each week I will highlight some of our opening day themes: Vision Statement #3--Our parents are supportive partners and are essential in the advancement of each student. RIS Mission: Our mission is to inspire and empower all students to reach their maximum potential: one student, one lesson, one day at a time. Things I CAN Control…
Continue to focus on the RIS four core beliefs: It’s about Kids! —Accountability—Transparency—Communication. Positives across the district……….. Russell Primary School (From the desk of Mr. Cassity) RPS had a great week back from Thanksgiving Break! Several classes enjoyed watching their classmates perform in the Nutcracker on Friday! On Thursday our Chick-fila Students and Staff of the Month enjoyed lunch together. Congrats to Ms. Angie and Ms. Sam as well as our students from each grade level! Friday before break, twelve classes participated in a mini celebration for earning 10 Class Stars! Here they are doing a little Turkey Dance before they head back to class: Russell-McDowell Intermediate (From the desk of Mrs. Wright)
Russell Middle School (From the desk of Mr. Moore)
Russell High School (From the desk of Mrs. Chaffin)
Russell Area Technology Center (From the desk of Mr. Trimble) Students in our business classes have been working hard on their industry certifications in Microsoft Office Systems. Students in this program have already obtained 32 total certifications this year. We appreciate their hard work on this industry-recognized certification process that will benefit them as they move into their future. We also appreciate the work Mrs. Phipps has done in assisting these students in preparation for this exam. Russell Preschool (From the desk of Mrs. Staton) Run, run as fast as you can to Room 207…it is gingerbread week in preschool!! We read a variety of gingerbread books & discussed the characters & setting in each one. Then we graphed our favorite book. We spelled gingerbread & focused on the letter Gg & we also played a gingerbread alphabet matching game in the literacy center. We completed Christmas STEM challenges in the block center. In the dramatic play center, we have our own gingerbread house & bakery. In the art center, we created gingerbread collage & decorated our artwork with gingerbread stickers. In the math center, we counted LOTS of Christmas items like Christmas trees, bows, gingerbread men, cookies, stockings, candy canes, ornaments, Christmas counting puzzles, & Christmas counting books. In the fine motor center, we decorated gingerbread men & cut out gingerbread men from gingerbread play dough. We also did a Science experiment to see what happened if the gingerbread man did land in water. Lastly, we decorated gingerbread cookies!! Preschool is sweet!! What’s happening at central office / district this week?
It’s a great day to be a Red Devil! Have a great week!! Sean
