I appreciate the patience and understanding from everyone last week. Hopefully, the weather the will cooperate and we can get our kids back on a regular schedule. My weekly note is a week behind due to the cancellation of school, but I still wanted to share the great things going on across the district. If my office can be of assistance to you, please let me know. Have a wonderful week Russell!!! It’s About Kids! Each week I will highlight some of our opening day themes: Vision Statement #7--Our Academics focus on rigorous standards and global success. RIS Mission: Our mission is to inspire and empower all students to reach their maximum potential: one student, one lesson, one day at a time. Things I CAN Control…
Continue to focus on the RIS four core beliefs: It’s about Kids! —Accountability—Transparency—Communication. Positives across the district……….. Russell Primary School (From the desk of Mr. Cassity) We have such awesome students here at RPS. We are calling between 15-25 students up to get their STARS and prizes on a daily basis. Class Stars are being earned daily as well, as our students are really working hard on their behavior, citizenship, and overall academic growth! Check out these first graders, who are really taking off in reading: Russell-McDowell Intermediate (From the desk of Mrs. Wright)
Russell Middle School (From the desk of Mr. Moore)
Russell High School (From the desk of Mrs. Chaffin)
We are excited to have begun the process of moving our IT classes back into their new and improved classroom. This is a project that has involved a lot of people, including the maintenance department as well as several of our students. The electricity students ran the electric for the classroom under the supervision of Mr. Fields, while the IT students ran the networking under the supervision of Mr. Williams. They did a great job in the classroom, and were able to again see some of the aspects of these real-world activities. We love to see improvements in our building that will allow for better learning environments for our students. We appreciate Mr. Williams and his students designing this area, and the work that has gone into making it ideal for the learning they do each day. Russell Preschool (From the desk of Mrs. Staton) This week Mrs. Grizzle's room had a lot of Science lessons taking place due to the children's interest!! We made animal flubber, examined x-rays on our light table, looked at replica animal bones, played with color changing sensory tubes, built structures with magnets, & welcomed our new classroom pet, Spike, our bearded dragon. We will continue our focus on Science this coming week when we make snow in our sensory table & melt a snowman. Lots of Little Scientists in Room 207!! What’s happening at central office / district this week?
It’s a great day to be a Red Devil!! Have a great week Russell! Sean
