Congratulations to our District Band programs. All 3 bands received straight distinguished ratings this weekend at Morehead State University! Beginning band all the way to High School band had great performances and represented our district well! Thank you Mr. Hunt and Mr. Dalton for working with our band students. Each week I will highlight some of our opening day themes: Vision Statement #1--Our Students are our top priority! RIS Mission: Our mission is to inspire and empower all students to reach their maximum potential: one student, one lesson, one day at a time. Things I CAN Control…
Continue to focus on the RIS four core beliefs: It’s about Kids! —Accountability—Transparency—Communication. Positives across the district……….. Russell Primary School (From the desk of Mr. Cassity)

Russell Preschool (From the desk of Mrs. Staton) We had an AMAZING turn out for our first Week Of The Young Child Family Night! The bleachers were full of families!!! Families watched our little ones perform songs, strolled through our art gallery, made some spring crafts, and visited the book fair! We had many exciting activities this week, and many pictures are posted on our preschool social media pages. This week we kicked off our month long study of Fairy Tales!! During circle time, we read, The Three Billy Goats Gruff, & acted it out to retell it; sang, "The Fairy Tale" song; did Yoga & other gross motor movements with fairy tales; & recited the finger play, The Five Little Sheep. We created castles with our castle blocks based off of pictures of European castles in the block center; played in our dramatic play castle; worked castle puzzles, built with castle gears, & played with a castle in the fine motor center; counted jewels on crowns in the Math center; decorated crowns & built shape castles in the art center; read fairy tales & fractured fairy tales in the library; & played with some new alphabet activities in the literacy center. We also added some new materials in our Science center. We added a collection of wood chips & seashells & a butterfly specimen kit. We are excited about our caterpillars arriving soon!! What’s happening at central office / district this week?
It’s a great day to be a Red Devil!! Have a great week Russell! Sean
