"There’s a saying that goes, treat a man as he is and he will remain as he is. Treat a man as he could be and he will become what he should be.”--Peyton Manning “Complaining causes you to focus on everything but being your best. Just stay the course. Look forward. Stay positive”--Jon Gordon RIS Mission: Our mission is to inspire and empower all students to reach their maximum potential: one student, one lesson, one day at a time. Keep in mind the main points discussed from District Opening Day: Things I CAN Control…
Continue to focus on the RIS four core beliefs: It’s about Kids! —Accountability—Transparency—Communication. Positives across the district……….. Russell Primary School (From the desk of Mr. Cassity)
Russell-McDowell Intermediate (From the desk of Mrs. Wright)
Russell Middle School (From the desk of Mr. Moore)
Russell High School (From the desk of Mrs. Chaffin)
Russell Area Technology Center (From the desk of Mr. Trimble) We kicked off our SkillsUSA competitions this week at RATC! We had fourteen students compete in the Health Sciences competition and they did a fantastic job. The students competed in CPR, two-man CPR and First Aid, and were judged by three local members of our community: Diane Williams (Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital), Vanessa Flannery (Morehead State University College of Nursing), and our own Jenny Bates. We appreciate these members of the community taking their time to come support our students in our first ever competition for Health Sciences, and Ms. Layne and Mr. Parsons for their hard work in organizing the event. We look forward to seeing our students compete in the other events next week! Russell Preschool (From the desk of Mrs. Staton) Preschoolers had an awesome week exploring Community Helpers. Officer Tackett was kind enough to visit our students and talk about the job of a School Resource Officer and Police Officer. Our students really enjoyed Officer Tackett! This week we are expecting a visit from Flatwoods EMS and we will be taking a field trip to the Highlands Museum and Discovery Center. What’s happening at central office / district this week?
It’s a great day to be a Red Devil! Have a great week Russell! Sean
